Edgeley Park, 11am, Saturday 28th October.
Everyone ready, just taking pictures and we set off for Rochdale, for the sponsored Cycle.
We set off, down towards the A6 and then we travel towards Manchester, passing Levenshulme and all those lovely areas... - Where the people there are very rude and ignorant, completely blanking me!!
Anyway, we get to our first meeting point, Mcdonalds, where we stop and have a break (Without going in!! (Or Drive-thru)
We then set off, towards our next meeting point, Rochdale Road, A664!
I decide if adding balloons to my bike will make people sponsor me.....
I finally get my first donation, my sticking my colleting tin up and a woman looks at me and opens her window, and gives me two 5ps! Which was a great start, she also ask where 'Ilva' is, whilst we're just stopped at the traffic lights before.
We then carry on down, and get to our first major turning, onto Oldham road, we then meet Patrick and Netty (who's Bike broke!!!!) and have another 'pit stop'.
We carry on, onto Rochdale road, A664.. the main road of this journey, where we just carry on and on and on..... and get there.
Driving down, this car beeps at us, we wave back, and then we meet it again at the traffic lights, the guy opens his window and shouts 'hey mate' and I go over, and collect money, while the lights have changed, just blocking a bus in it's path.. but nevermind...
Travelling along the road, passing plenty of bus stops we then decided to collect as much as we can, so, stop at nearly every bus stop, to see if anyone would be kind enough... Didn't get very many, but still more than what i'd of got without balloons.
We carried on driving, getting a few beeps and waves, - The waves were when I go 'Dya wanna sponsor me, for Macmillan, we've rode from Stockport' - The people waved as in 'nar, hiya'.. wierd...
So, driving down, getting a few more people to put money in, we carry on, where we cross over the motorway, but loose Jamie, great thing to do...
While we were waiting, we saw a few shops and decided to go into them, to see if we'd get sponsored/donations.. we got a few, which was great!
Jamie then appeared, and we set off again, through to Middleton town centre, where we got a slight bit of sponsor money from people, the best quote, was when people walked, and you could hear the money, but they're like 'Got no cash' Ahh well.
So, we rode up the A664, on our way to Dale, and I see this old guy, who I ask 'Do you want to Sponsor me' He responds, by putting his hand on my tin, and saying 'I can't, I'm a pensioner', to which I just decided to say 'Oh, ok then' and rode off (He took his hand off, don't worry)
We then carried on, and on and saw the next turning, for Spotland Stadium, we were close, and ride down this small bike lane, where there seemed to be a lot of cars on it.
Going up the big hill at the end, which would of been better if that hill was in the middle, as we were all getting worn out, i'm going dead slow, and this people carrier opens his window and gives us looads of coins, 10p, 20, loads, and then the people in the back do it too! So, there was a load.
So, we carry on riding, and we see straight ahead, 'Spotland stadium' knowing we're almost there! We carry on and see the ground, happy we've made it and done it all!
We then ask a steward where reception is, she tells us, we go over and a guy says to us 'You can't put these in here' so, I told her the situation and stuff, and the guy I emailed about the bike ride (Top guy) takes us to park our bikes.
We park the bikes (after loosing Netty) and get told we'll get free tickets!!!
We then go to Patricks car to collect the camera and everything, and collect our free tickets... we go to the turnstilles, I stand inside them and collect some money inside the turnstilles (Thanks to EVERYONE who donated!!)
We get to our seats, all prepared for the game, little did we know how good it would be.
So, half-time, County 2-0 up, Matt, Josh and a few others go round with a bucket, collecting.
After the game, our 3-1 win, we collect our bikes, and go to wait for the minibus, which should of been there at 5.10, rang up at 5.10, and got told it would be another 20-25 minutes, we waited that long and then rang again, we got told '2 minutes' waited 2 minutes and waited another 10, before Matt re-rang (I had free calls luckily!!) he gets told that 'He's already been picked up' which we tell him we 'hadn't!!!
So, we ride to the train station, - Me, Jamie and Netty - Ride down, looking for one, and we find a taxi company who would easily take us to Stockport!
So, we had a chat with the driver, and I got dropped off just near my door, so!
Overall - was a great day, and I feel VERY proud for everything!!!!!
